For instructors: add a free 20-question state board practice quiz to your class page, learning platform or school website. Students choose an answer, open the explanation and check their score. They do not need an account, and the quiz shows no ads.
What you can embed
- Four trades: cosmetology, nail technician, esthetician and barber topic quizzes, 20 questions each.
- Four languages: every quiz is available in English, and many topics are also available in Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Korean.
- Explained answers: each question shows why the correct answer is right, with its source.
The quizzes cover general theory topics from the written exam, such as infection control, chemistry and client consultation. They do not cover your state’s laws and rules. These are original study questions, not recalled or official exam items.
How to add a quiz
- Choose the trade, topic and language below. The preview shows exactly what students will see.
- Select Copy, then paste the code into any page or learning platform that accepts HTML embeds (an iframe).
- Keep the one-line credit under the quiz. It links students to the full topic page if they want to keep practicing.
Why the written exam deserves class time
Most students who fail the state board fail the written exam, not the practical. In fiscal year 2025, 49% of Cosmetology Operator written exam attempts in Texas passed, compared with 89% of practical attempts. In California, 54.8% of 2025 written exam results for school-trained cosmetologist candidates were passes. See state board exam pass rates for the sources.
