- Get tuition, refund, attendance, transfer-credit, and transcript policies in writing.
- Confirm that the program hours qualify for the exact license classification you want.
- Ask who owns the student records if the school closes.
- Do not rely on a guaranteed-pass, guaranteed-license, or guaranteed-transfer promise.
- Pay through a traceable method and keep contracts, receipts, attendance records, and messages.
- Contact the board before paying a third party to alter hours, transfer a license, or submit records.
Possible warning signs: pressure to pay immediately, cash-only payment, no written refund policy, a school missing from the board lookup, or a promise that a license can be issued without meeting board requirements.
